Our Friend Mehboob Sada - Pakistan mourns loss of Poet and Human Rights Mehboob Sada

From Pakistan, Speroforum correspondent Xavier P. William reported that poet Mehboob Sada has passed away. Born on January 18, 1948, he died on January 14 in Rawalpindi. He has now been laid to rest at the Rawalpindi Christian cemetery following a funeral Mass celebrated by retired Bishop Anthony Lobo and Rev. John William.

Writing from Pakistan, Xavier William reported, "It is announced with great Grief that Our Lord Jesus has taken our beloved Mr. Mehboob Sada ( Mehboob Francis Sada) for an everlasting life in Heaven."

Completing his early education at St. Patrick School, Sada later graduated from Gordon College in Rawalpindi. Having started to write poems and articles from a relatively early age, he wrote under the name 'Sada' in various newspapers and publications.

He married Agnes Joseph in August 1975. Their marriage was blessed with the birth of 3 daughters and 2 sons.

In 1986, Sada joined the esteemed Ecumenical Christian Study Centre in Rawalpindi, which according to William "became a hub of opportunities for different communities." Following his hard labors in the interest of interfaith dialogue, Sada was appointed Director of the Center in 2001. Under his guidance, the Centre became known for promoting human rights and democratic values. According to William, "His services for the promotion and protection of the minorities and human rights are recognized not only by the Christian community, Muslims, Hindus and Sikh admired him for his courage and devotion."
